Care and Cleaning

These are cleaning and care procedures that we recommend. The suggested cleaning products are those that we use ourselves, and those that we sell through AussieBoots - available here.

Polished Leather

Clean with a damp cloth and dry slowly, without placing on a heat source. We sell a range of renovating creams and leather conditioners all of which are suitable for polished boots. The Blundstone and Cherry Blossom creams are both excellent quality and the Cherry Blossom polish is made in the UK.

You can also apply a waterproofer to polished boots for additional waterproofing.

Blundstone Rustic Finish

This is not the same as a nubuck finish although it looks very similar. Blundstones’ rustic finish is slightly more durable and tough than traditional nubuck.

Clean with a damp cloth, or with Grangers Footwear Cleaner, and dry slowly, without placing on a heat source. The Blundstone rustic renovating cream is suitable for use on Blundstone Rustic boots. Apply sparingly with a cloth. It will slightly alter the nap of the boots, adding a slight sheen.

You can also apply a waterproofer to Rustic boots for additional waterproofing.

Nubuck

Nubuck is the outside of the leather skin, abraded to give a soft, velvety finish. We do not recommend using a conditioner or renovating cream on nubuck boots unless you want to change the finish to a more polished look. This can be a good option if you feel that the leather really needs conditioning (or if you just like the more polished look).

Clean with a damp cloth, or with Grangers Footwear Cleaner, and dry slowly, without placing on a heat source. Brush gently with a suede/nubuck brush to remove any marks and to re-introduce the velvety nubuck surface. A waterproofer (such as Granger's Repel Waterproofer) can also be applied.

Suede

Suede is the underside of the leather skin and has a soft, slightly rough finish. We do not recommend using a conditioner or renovating cream on suede boots.
