Sizing Help

Our sizing information is gleaned from over 20 years of experience selling Australian boots online. However it is not a precise art and sometimes boots (and feet) can vary from the norm.

If you're unsure of your size feel free to contact us to have a chat about what you're looking for. Alternatively you can order a couple of different sizes to try on (on a clean, soft surface) and return the pair that doesn't work for you.

WOMEN

open-close-arrowBlundstone Sizing

Most Blundstone styles are unisex sizing. Unisex Blundstones are usually a larger fit than the equivalent UK women's size. As a general rule we recommend that if you're at all borderline on sizing (eg. sometimes a 6, sometimes a 5.5) we recommend dropping down a size (eg. to a size 5) otherwise stick to your normal UK size.

It's also worth bearing in mind that half sizes in Blundstones provide extra width not length so a 5.5 is the same length as a 5, just a bit wider. In practice the sole of both boots is the same, the only difference is that in the half sizes there is more leather in the upper to give a bit more room.

If after trying on the boots you find that they are a bit big but not enough to warrant dropping down a size, you can lift up the footbed of the boots and insert a thin insole underneath. This will give a snugger fit.

Original and Classic Series (unisex)

(500, 508, 515, 519, 550, 558, 562, 585, 587, 1609, 1615, 1910, 1911, 1917, 1918, 1919, 1940, 1944, 2052, 2105, 2115, 2116)

As a general rule we recommend that if you're at all borderline on sizing (eg. sometimes a 6, sometimes a 5.5) we recommend dropping down a size (eg. to a size 5) otherwise stick to your normal UK size.

Dress Series (unisex)

(062, 063, 1306, 1308)

Most women find the chisel toe dress boots to be a larger fit than the other styles and we suggest dropping a size.

Women's Series

(1671, 1673, 1677, 2060, 2151)

The stacked heel women's boots - 1671, 1673, 1677 and 2060 - are the same size as the equivalent UK size - so if you're normally a UK 6 you'll want to order a Blundstone 6 in this range.

The Hi-Top 2151 is more similar in sizing to the original and classic range - so if you're at all borderline on sizing (eg. sometimes a 6, sometimes a 5.5) we recommend dropping down a size (eg. to a size 5) otherwise stick to your normal UK size.

Thermal Series (unisex)

(584, 566, 1478, 1477)

The thermal range of Blundstones are all sized up to accommodate the sheepskin insole and so are an even bigger fit than the equivalent non-thermal Blundstones in the same size. In general we recommend that women drop down a size in these boots.

open-close-arrowRedback Sizing

Because Redback are unisex sizes they can be quite roomy for women. Generally we recommend sticking with your normal UK size but if you are at all borderline (eg. sometimes a 6.5, sometimes a 7) it's best to drop down a size.

Half sizes provide extra width not length (so a 9.5 is the same length as a 9 just a bit wider) so unless you have particularly wide feet it's usually best to stick to whole sizes.

open-close-arrowMongrel Sizing

Mongrel boots can be quite roomy for women. They are still a relatively new brand to us and we are finding that quite a few of our women customers are dropping down a size. As always, it's not a precise art but generally if you are at all borderline (eg. sometimes a 6.5, sometimes a 6) it's best to drop down a size.

MEN

open-close-arrowBlundstone Sizing

Most Blundstone styles are unisex sizing. In general Blundstone (Australian) sizing is very similar to UK men's sizing. Of course, the fit varies from style to style but, in most cases, we recommend sticking with your usual UK size. Blundstones are a reasonably generous fit by UK standards so If you're borderline, move down to the smaller size.

Half sizes in Blundstone provide extra width, not length - a size 10.5 is the same length as a size 10, but is slightly wider than a size 10.

Dress Series (unisex)

(062, 063, 1306, 1308, 1900, 1901)

The dress boots are a more generous fit than the classic and original series. Some men find they need to drop down a size. We recommend that if you are at all borderline, drop down to the smaller size.

The 1900 and 1901 dress boots are similar in sizing to the original and classic series so we recommend sticking to your normal UK size.

Thermal Series (unisex)

(584, 566, 1478, 1477)

The thermal series have been over-sized to allow for the thick sheepskin insole. Some customers have been finding that their usual size is too large. Pete (AussieBoots' founder) says he's usually a size 10 and has found that he needs to add a thin pair of insoles under the sheepskin footbed to give him a perfect fit (he did initially try a size 9, but that was too short).

KIDS

The Australian and UK sizing is identical in kids boots. Kids Blundstones come with an additional pair of insoles meaning that you can opt for a larger size and reduce this by fitting the additional insoles, thereby increasing the life of the boots.

SIZING and FITTING TIPS

open-close-arrowThin insoles

Blundstone and Redback boots have a removable footbed. If you lift out the footbed and insert a thin insole underneath you will have a snugger fitting boot. If you remove the footbed and insert a thin insole you will have a more roomy fit.

The Classic Blundstone series come with a free pair of thin insoles for this purpose.
